Opportunities

  1. Front Office Opportunity - Client Services Volunteers work with a database, entering services that we provide for our Pantry clients, and answer phones. You will also conduct intakes for our new clients and annual updates with our existing clients. You may also be scheduling appointments for showers and laundry services. In this area, you will be interacting with our clients one-on-one. Email Libby@HomeAgainLA.org for more information
     
  2. Pantry Opportunity - Pantry Volunteers receive and sort donated food items, do inventory, and package grocery orders for our clients. You may be asked to move up to 30-pound crates of non-perishable foods. There may be some cleaning involved, including breaking down boxes, and you may serve our non-housed clients already prepared sack lunches. Email Libby@HomeAgainLA.org for more information
     

  3. Meal Opportunity - Dinner is a meal prepared at the volunteers’ home or a meal purchased and delivered to our facility. Dinner is served at 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity for various groups/clubs – such as a woman’s, men’s, corporations and youth groups. We have no more than 4 families at one time, no more than 14 individual's total. You provide the meal, serve the meal, and break bread with the families if you feel comfortable to do so.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Supplies

  • Volunteers purchase and donate food staples, paper products, cleaning supplies, and other needed items for the Day Center (i.e. daytime residence of families)

    Activities

  • Volunteers plan and organize special activities and events such as arts and crafts projects, videos, game nights, parties and outings for the families.
     
    Celebrations

  • Volunteers bring in a birthday cake if needed or birthday balloons and/or decorations for guests’ birthdays.
     
    Helping with materials: posters or stuffing envelopes and sending them out

  • At our Day Center

  • With one of our congregations

  • Helping a Board member
     
    Fundraising Events and/or Rummage Sales

  • Helping congregations with fundraising events for Home Again L.A.

  • Helping for a Home Again LA fundraising event

  • Help a board member prepare for a fundraising event
