Home Sweet Home for the Grimes Family - Ms. Grimes, a single mother with two daughters, became homeless after separating from her partner. That decision was not easy for her as she had no stable housing to go to but it was a decision she made in order to start a new life. Ms. Grimes and the girls lived in their car and couch surfed when the opportunity presented itself. The family was referred to Family Promise of the Verdugos by the LA County 211 hotline. Our case managers worked alongside Ms. Grimes in providing resources, hope and opportunity. It was not soon after that we were able to secure housing for the family. Our Glendale Rapid Rehousing program provided the family with a security deposit and a rental subsidy. Our amazing partners provided furniture while Family Promise provided essential items. The Family Promise staff will continue to work alongside Ms. Grimes and the girls to make certain they are achieving their goals and eventually in a couple months become fully self-sufficient.
