5TH ANNUAL GALA:
Rendezvous at the Zoo
On Saturday, April 6th, 2019 the Family Promise of the Verdugos held its 5th annual Gala at the beautiful Los Angeles Zoo. The event was held under the Treetop Pavillion with nearly 400 of Family Promises' donors from Burbank, Glendale and neighboring communities.
The event was held to raise funds that are needed in order to continue providing shelter, meals and case management for our unsheltered population. The evening started with a silent auction, appetizers, and unlimited rides on the carousel. The dinner segment included a welcome by our master of ceremonies, Jim Babcock, and a formal welcome by Board Chair, Yvette Herrera. Stories of impact and success were shared by the Executive Director, Albert Hernandez.
This years IMPACT Award was presented to long time supporter, Nickelodeon. The Nickelodeon organization has been supportive for the past five years providing furnishings to our families who have transitioned into permanent housing. In addition, Nickelodeon has donated clothing and toys for the many children in our shelter. We thank the Nickelodeon team for all they have done to create a sense of normalcy for all those in our shelter. Special thanks to Nickelodeon team members Carson Smith, Patrick Garney, Isaac Huntington and Amanda Adams!
The Hands On, Hearts In Award was presented to Sandra Thompson. Thompson is a founding member of Family Promise of the Verdugos, a past president and volunteer through her church, Burbank First United Methodist. Thank you Sandra for your years of service.
