3rd Annual Gala:
Take Flight to End Homelessness

On Saturday, April 15th, 2017 Family Promise of the Verdugos held its 3rd annual Gala at the recently remodeled Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale, CA. The Air Terminal had been recently purchased by the Walt Disney Company and renovated to be utilized for large gatherings for the Disney employees. On this date, Family Promise had been only its second outside agency to come in and use the space. We were so thankful to the Walt Disney Company for partnering with us on this event.
The evening began with 300 guests bidding on silent auction items that had been out on the original tarmac. Guests enjoyed music, cocktails and mingling with fellow Family promise supporters. The evening moved indoors to into the Terminal where all guests were treated to a wonderful dinner provided by the Disney catering company. Guests were able to bid on great live auction items, make donations and witness the presentation of our inaugural awards.
This was our first year presenting awards. The inaugural IMPACT Award was presented to Senator Anthony Portantino. The award was presented by Glendale Mayor Paula Devine. Senator Portantino has been a faithful supporter of Family Promise and an advocate to help those in need.
The inaugural Hands On, Hearts In Award was presented to long time Family Promise supporters and volunteers, Howard Fallman & Nancy Kachline. Howard served as a Past President of our board while Nancy volunteered coordinating meals and overnight accommodations for our shelter families whenever they slept over at Glendale First United Methodist Church.
